Medical device coatings need to resemble an accurate, functional cell matrix in order to fulfill the high requirements of tissue engineering applications. Early in product development the right choice of a premium collagen raw material for coating is therefore essential.
Viscolma® is a suspension of ultrapure collagen type I fibers produced from bovine skin in a highly standardized industrial process. The native fiber structure represents a natural 3D-scaffold for cells, promoting attachment, growth and differentiation. With its excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability Viscolma® is ideal for coating of implantable medical devices. In addition, the suspension can be used for the development of any 2D or 3D collagen scaffold.
